The Giornalista!

Merry Christmas!

After seeing Julie and Julia, I became obsessed with home-making, cooking and Le Creuset cooking ware. My mother, after seeing this new fetish of mine, decided to theme my Xmas Julia Child-style. I got the book, some of the cookware, and my favorite– a signed biography!! It’s so cool!! And a wonderful Christmas gift!

There will most definitely be updates about cooking Child-style, and although it’s obviously already been done, I plan on cataloging my efforts at making my favorite dish- boeuf bourguignon.

Happy Holidays!! I’ll be taking a hiatus until January 2, 2009- when I return from Paris after spending New Years there!!

Tanning Tax

Are you a serial tanner? Well, pretty soon it might not just be an unhealthy habit– if Congress has it’s way, it might become a very costly habit as well. Cosmopolitan and several other news Web sites have recently written about this tax. I picked it up and wrote my own spin on it for StudentStuff.com.

Check out the article here, perhaps this new tax will stop people from tanning, although I doubt it as people are still tanning despite the American Cancer Society’s reclassification of tanning as “carcinogenic  to humans.”

MacApper- First Review

I wrote my first post for MacApper and it was published today!! It’s all about a new application I’ve been using called Documents To Go. It allows you to sync Word and Excel documents from your computer to your iPhone and also to create, edit and save word and excel documents on your phone. Perfect for the commuter on the go. It’s $9.99, however, so it might be a good use of any iTunes gift cards you may get this holiday season.

Holiday Disasters– This Old House style

Every single holiday I burn my right hand. EVERY SINGLE HOLIDAY. No matter what precautions I take, no matter how many types of gloves I buy, I still burn my hand. This christmas, however, I’m taking a book from This Old House’s Holiday Diasters post in order to try to mitigate the amount of times I get burned.

If you’re a disaster like I am, you may enjoy it! Check it out!

Sample Sale Sites!

There are many sample sale Web sites, however, some of them are better than others. My personal favorite is Rue La La, an invite only site which allows you to shop for vacations, home furnishings, accessories and clothing. Here’s a link to get you started, and if you sign up before December 24 you’ll get a $10 credit to start your new shopping year off right! So happy shopping– Rue La La the Joy ;)

Gingerbread House Contest: This Old House magazine

Check out the entries and vote for your favorite!

It’s that time of year again, GINGERBREAD BAKING TIME!!! If you and your family have a tradition of making a gingerbread house at the holiday, you should submit it to the This Old House gingerbread contest. It’s the 2nd annual contest and if you need inspiration check out my gallery from last year, or even the toolbox. Both of those posts should have you baking and building in no time. The contest ends at midnight on December 23, so vote for your favorites today, before it’s too late.
If you do win, you can win one of the three prizes, AND if you’re in the top 10, your house will be displayed on the homepage on Christmas Eve– How cool is that!
